FAQ

  • I’ve received emails from Headway and SimplePractice. What are these, and do i need to create a profile in both?

If we are billing your insurance, you’ll receive emails from two trusted platforms: Headway and SimplePractice.

Headway is our third-party billing service. They help verify your insurance, file claims, and let you know what your expected cost will be after insurance pays their part.

SimplePractice is the secure, HIPAA-compliant software we use for medical records, appointment scheduling, and telehealth sessions. It’s where your private health information is safely stored.

To make sure we can file your insurance claims and keep your care organized, you’ll need to create a profile and complete registration on both platforms.

  • Do you have a physical office or do you just do virtual visits?

At this time we are only doing visits over televideo but this might change in future.

  • I already see a therapist. What’s the difference between what you do and what my therapist does?

That’s a great question—and one we hear often.

Our service focuses on psychiatric medication management, which is different from traditional talk therapy. Medication management involves:

    Prescribing and adjusting psychiatric medications

    Monitoring your response over time

    Managing side effects

Collaborating with you to make thoughtful decisions based on your symptoms, values, and goals

Alongside medication, we may integrate brief supportive techniques such as:

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

    Behavioral strategies

Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) techniques, which help improve your ability to understand your own and others’ thoughts, emotions, and behaviors

While these approaches can be helpful, they do not replace formal psychotherapy.

Your therapist provides ongoing emotional support, deeper exploration of life experiences, and space for long-term psychological growth. Our role is to support and optimize your care through medication and focused strategies that align with your overall treatment goals.

Medication management and therapy complement each other—they address different aspects of mental health and, when used together, can significantly enhance each other’s effectiveness.

  • What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is an evidence-based approach that addresses insomnia symptoms. It involves exploring the connection between thoughts, behaviors, and sleep. CBT-I sessions focus on cognitive interventions (changing unhelpful thoughts) and behavioral techniques (like stimulus control and relaxation).

Most individuals experience improvements in sleep quality with CBT-I in 6-12 weeks. Compared to medications, CBT-I has lasting effects and doesn’t carry the risks of side effects associated with the long term use of medications for insomnia. Not only is the goal to help you sleep better but also teach you how to log your sleep experience and make adjustments on your own in the future so that you can continue to have a sleep practice that works for you.

  • What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that lists the services you received during your visit with us. It includes:

The type of appointment or treatment

    Diagnosis and procedure codes

    Our clinic and provider information

    The amount you paid

If you have out-of-network benefits, you can submit the superbill to your insurance company to request reimbursement for part of the cost.

Not sure if you have out-of-network coverage? We can help you check—just let us know, and we’ll walk you through it.
